Aviation Carbon 2024, a great success!

Aviation Carbon 2024, co-organized by Normec Verifavia concluded successfully on November 26, 2024, reinforcing its status as the longest-running “must-attend” aviation sustainability event. Thanks to all the attendees for making this possible! The conference convened various stakeholders, including airlines, fuel suppliers, carbon market experts, policymakers, and environmental organizations, to discuss the latest developments in sustainability, compliance, and implications for the industry.

These discussions provided attendees with valuable insights into current regulations and emerging trends in aviation sustainability.
  • Diverse Participation: Building upon the success of previous years, Aviation Carbon 2024 brought together over 400+ delegates representing airlines, business operators, and sustainability experts globally. This broad participation facilitated rich discussions and networking opportunities, fostering collaboration across the sector.
  • A focus on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF): A significant portion of the conference was dedicated to exploring the usage, development, and challenges associated with SAF. Sessions explored fuel technologies, SAF markets and registries, SAF claiming issues and guidance, and the role of carbon markets in supporting aviation’s decarbonization efforts.
  • Regulatory Compliance Deep-Dives: In association with Normec Verifavia, the event included detailed sessions on regulatory compliance, providing aircraft operators with essential updates and guidance on EU ETS SAF claims, ReFuelEU Aviation obligations, and SAF reporting requirements. The presence of a competent authority, a fuel supplier, and an aircraft operator in the panel helped everyone understand and appreciate the different stakeholders’ perspectives and challenges. These sessions provided participants with insights and gave them the opportunity to raise questions.
